GUIDED BY LIGHT, GROUNDED IN LOVE, INSPIRED BY THE WORLD AROUND ME Joanne Renwick

Style and soul have always been intertwined in my work — I can’t imagine painting without both. My art breathes with the quiet rhythm of nature, as if the world itself pauses for a moment while I translate its beauty onto canvas.

I was born in South Africa, where my earliest memories are painted in the warm tones of savannah sunsets and the graceful movement of wildlife. Those beginnings shaped me deeply — not just as someone who observes beauty, but as someone who feels compelled to share it, to turn the language of the natural world into color and form.

My life has taken me across continents and through many chapters — from the wide skies of Cape Town to the lush heart of Venezuela, from the living jungles of the Congo to the serene shores of Cyprus, where I now call home. Each place has left its mark, becoming part of the palette I carry within me. My art isn’t bound by geography or tradition; it’s a journey through emotion, memory, and light.

The subjects I paint often live somewhere between the real and the remembered — lions that seem to hold wisdom in their eyes, coastlines that hum softly with the past, mountains that whisper to the wind. I don’t paint simply what I see, but what I feel and remember. Every brushstroke holds a touch of nostalgia and the discipline that comes from a lifetime of looking deeply.

My name is Joanne, but almost everyone calls me Jo — and in every painting, there’s a piece of my story waiting to meet yours.

Though my work is unmistakably inspired by the natural world, it also carries a deep sense of introspection. Every brushstroke is an act of reverence — for creation, for endurance, and for the quiet persistence of beauty. My palette shifts like the seasons: earthy ochres, restless blues, and the faint shimmer of dawn light. Through them, I don’t just invite others to look — I hope they will feel.

Today, I continue to paint with the calm confidence that comes from having seen much and loved deeply. My art has become a conversation — between continents, between memory and the present moment, between the vastness of nature and the intimacy of the human spirit.

Each painting I create is more than a scene; it’s a story — the ongoing journey of a woman who has made the world her muse.
